God Made Everything

Why is the sky blue? Why do elephants have trunks? Why do kangaroos have pouches? Have you ever asked questions like these?

In the beginning, there was only God. There were no blue skies, no elephants, and no hopping kangaroos. But then God began to create. He just spoke, and out of nothing he created the sun, the moon, and the stars; the earth; the sea; the plants; and the animals. God is the one who created everything around us. And his Word tells us that one way to get to know HIM, is through the amazing and wonderful things he has made.

Rom. 1:19-20 (NIV)

“…since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made…”

Have you ever stopped to think how every living creature has just what it needs to survive in the place where it lives? Let’s look at just one example and see God’s wisdom in the design of this little creature, and let’s see what we can learn from a frog!

Red-eyed Tree Frog

Did you know that tree frogs have fascinating feet? Scientists have discovered that tree frogs’ feet are covered with a wet film that helps them cling. They also have tiny bumps like cleats that can poke through the fluid and give them traction on slippery surfaces. But that’s not all! Their toe pads also have tiny channels which allow them to control the amount of fluid on their feet. They can funnel some away or bring more as needed. This helps them cling more tightly when they are on a dry or uneven surface and even enables them to hang upside down.
